Homemade Chili for Burgers and Hotdogs
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 lb halal ground beef
1 small onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1/4 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional, to balance acidity)
1/4 cup beef broth or water (optional, for thinner consistency)
Directions:
Heat the olive oil in a medium-sized skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up into small crumbles with a wooden spoon. Drain any excess grease.
Add the diced onion and garlic to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until softened and fragrant.
Stir in the tomato sauce, tomato paste, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, smoked paprika, chili powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well to combine.
Lower the heat and let the chili simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Add the beef broth or water if you prefer a thinner consistency.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Serve warm over burgers or hotdogs, and enjoy!
