Ingredients:

For the Ground Beef Gravy:

1 lb ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups beef broth
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper, to taste

For the Mashed Potatoes:

2 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
1/2 cup milk or cream
4 tablespoons unsalted butter
Salt and black pepper, to taste

Directions:

Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with water. Add a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Drain the water and return the potatoes to the pot.
Add the butter and milk (or cream), then mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Keep warm.

Cook the Ground Beef Gravy:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess grease and set the beef aside.
In the same skillet, melt the butter. Add the chopped onion and cook for 3-4 minutes until softened. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
Sprinkle the flour over the onion mixture and stir to create a roux. Slowly whisk in the beef broth, ensuring no lumps remain. Add the Worcestershire sauce and bring the mixture to a simmer.
Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet. Stir and let the gravy simmer for 5-7 minutes until thickened. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Assemble and Serve:
Spoon the mashed potatoes onto a plate and top with the savory ground beef and gravy. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired. Serve warm.
