Beef and Pepper Rice Bowl
Ingredients:
For the Beef Mixture:
1 lb ground beef
1 tbsp sesame oil (or olive oil)
1 small onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 red bell pepper, diced
1 green bell pepper, diced
3 tbsp soy sauce (use low-sodium for a lighter option)
2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for depth of flavor)
1 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (optional, for thickening)
For the Bowl:
2 cups cooked white or brown rice
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
2 green onions, sliced
Directions:
Cook the Beef Mixture:
Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Drain any excess grease.
Sauté the Vegetables:
Push the beef to one side of the skillet. Add the diced onion, garlic, and bell peppers to the other side. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
Combine and Season:
Stir the beef and vegetables together. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), sugar, and black pepper. Mix well to coat everything evenly. If you’d like the sauce thicker, stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
Assemble the Bowls:
Divide the cooked rice among 4 bowls. Top with the beef and pepper mixture.
Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions for added flavor and presentation. Serve warm and enjoy!
